What Drug Outpatient Treatment Programs Are The Most Successful?

by | May 20, 2022

Addiction can be a challenging and isolating struggle, but it is important to remember that you are not alone. If you are seeking addiction treatment in Louisville, Kentucky, there is hope.

Checking into a drug outpatient program is a big step in facing addiction. Indeed, being able to still live your life with the aid of outpatient services is one of the most effective methods for targeting addiction and removing its influence over your life. And whether you or a loved one are in need of help with facing drug addiction, or you’re looking for a new rehab center to work with, we structure the help we offer through a variety of different programs.

Here at Louisville Addiction Treatment Center, we’ve long been a community-focused and judgment-free rehab center, focusing on providing individualized outpatient treatments to help people who are looking to get better. With that in mind, here are three of the most successful outpatient programs that could be very beneficial for your own recovery.

Intensive Outpatient And Outpatient

Both outpatient and intensive outpatient programs have been found to be most successful when dealing with drug addictions. These work by focusing on the patient as a whole, meaning the service understands the need to maintain a normal life outside of the need for rehab.

We run an Impact Outpatient Program at our center, which focuses on working as a team, and with members of the community both in and outside of patient programs. Our outpatient efforts are focused on involving the ones you love in your care, with the aim to heal as a group at the heart of what we do. That means outpatient programs are focused on using evidence-based therapies, such as CBT, alongside following an individualized plan for any and all attendees.

Alternatively, an Intensive Outpatient Program takes this principle and steps it up a gear. Patients are still allowed to remain at home and amongst their families, but therapy is attended to a lot more often. Some patients come to sessions 5 times a week and some benefit more from sessions 7 times a week over consecutive days. An outpatient program like this can last for over a year, as treatment is slower but more impactful. However, the failure to commit to an outpatient care plan like this can often end in an inpatient referral.

Telemed

Another effective form of drug outpatient treatment is telemedicine. Sometimes known as ‘Telemed’, a Telehealth for Addiction program has revolutionized the world of rehab care. No longer do patients have to attend appointments in person; now they can experience counseling via the use of online software and an internet connection.

Of course, Telemed hasn’t completely taken the place of offering in-person services, but it has lessened the impact of the pandemic on a treatment center’s ability to provide aid. Not only that, but the need to keep up with an intensive outpatient program is no longer as difficult for struggling patients. Now they can call in from the comfort of their own home.

Telemed also allows for greater insight into a patient’s specific rehab needs. Being able to talk to them within their own home or other supportive environments can form a more stable level of trust between professionals and service users. It’s convenient, and it prevents distance from becoming between a patient’s addiction needs and the help that’s out there for them.

Multiple Pathways Treatment

Multiple Pathways Treatment is something rehab centers like us undertake in all outpatient programs we provide. For example, combining Telemed services alongside in-person therapy is a form of multiple pathways treatment – patients are able to depend upon a variety of different services that can help them down their road to recovery.

Not only that but traditional therapies like CBT can be combined with medical assistance, allowing us to further serve patients depending on the addiction they come to us with. Having more than one form of treatment on hand can help a patient to better combat stressors and triggers in their environment which could set them back to square one.

Providing tablets to help with sleep is a good example; many patients going through a rehab program find they are restless and unable to relax during the nighttime. Allowing us to focus on the emotions during the day via CBT therapy, and then address physical needs at night can form a positive feedback loop that enables a patient to find further success in their treatment.

Successful drug outpatient treatment programs are at the forefront of modern rehab care. Some patients will find more success here than others, of course, but outpatient programs allow for greater maneuverability.
